A Sacred Wood for Ritual + Intention

Warm, woodsy and naturally aromatic, Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) has a long history of practical and ceremonial use. Among various Indigenous peoples of North America, cedar and juniper have held significance in traditions involving prayer, purification and ceremony.

Each stick is made from Eastern Red Cedar and intricately engraved, transforming something beautiful from nature into a special ritual object.

Light it before meditation, journaling, intention setting or spiritual practice, or simply when you want to slow down, create sacred space and become present.

The Sacredness of Cedar

Cedar has a sacred history of its own.

Eastern Red Cedar has a long relationship with Indigenous peoples of North America and has been used in various traditions for ceremony, purification and prayer.

I share that history with respect and without attempting to recreate or teach traditions that are not my own.

In my own practice, I work with cedar simply and intentionally, honoring the tree, expressing gratitude and allowing its naturally aromatic smoke to become part of the sacred space I create.

Why I Picked This

I found cedar because I was looking for an alternative to Palo Santo. 

As Palo Santo became increasingly popular, I started thinking more about how much of it we consume and how difficult it can be as a customer to truly know where our wood came from or how it was harvested, even when a product is described as sustainably sourced.

I didn't want to give up the ritual of burning aromatic wood, so I began looking for another option that I could incorporate into my own spiritual practice with intention and respect.

That's when I found Eastern Red Cedar.

What I discovered was that cedar didn't need to be a substitute for anything. It has a sacred history of its own.

I loved its connection to ritual, its warm, woodsy fragrance and the fact that Eastern Red Cedar grows abundantly much closer to home. The beautiful engraving made these pieces feel even more special.

For me, it's a reminder that sacred doesn't have to mean scarce or come from somewhere far away. Sometimes we can find it growing closer to home.

Because this is a natural, hand finished product, variations in color, grain and appearance are part of what makes each piece unique.

How to Use

Light one end of the cedar stick and allow it to catch briefly. Gently blow out the flame and allow the wood to smolder.

Place it securely in a fire safe holder and allow the aromatic smoke to become part of your meditation, intention setting, reflection or spiritual practice.

When your ritual is complete, extinguish the cedar fully.

Safety

Burn only in a fire safe holder on a heat resistant surface. Never leave burning cedar unattended. Keep away from children, pets and flammable materials. Use in a well ventilated area. Extinguish completely after use.
